The Baseball Program is built to foster the development of athletes from the Junior High to Varsity level.

Varsity Baseball

The Texas Wind Varsity Baseball Team is for athletes who are looking to compete at a high level and make their mark in the game. This team is highly competitive, and athletes are challenged to push their skills to their fullest potential, aiming for excellence both on and off the field.

  • Very Competitive Play: The Varsity team plays against top-tier opponents, participating in a highly competitive league. The season includes regular games, tournaments, and opportunities to advance to playoffs and state-level competitions, providing athletes with the chance to prove themselves on a larger stage.
  • Advanced Skill Development: Coaches focus on fine-tuning the skills needed to succeed at the highest levels of baseball, including hitting, pitching, fielding, base running, and mental strategy. Varsity players are expected to maintain peak physical condition and develop a deep understanding of the game.
  • Team Leadership: The Varsity program emphasizes leadership, with athletes taking on responsibilities both on and off the field. Players are expected to demonstrate maturity, discipline, and sportsmanship, setting an example for younger athletes in the program.
  • Postseason Opportunities: The goal of the Varsity team is to compete for championships and make deep runs in the playoffs, with the possibility of state-level competition.


Junior Varsity Baseball

The Junior Varsity Baseball Team serves as the stepping stone to Varsity competition, providing athletes with a competitive environment to develop their skills and prepare for the next level.

  • Competitive but Developmental: While the Junior Varsity team is competitive, the focus is on developing players and getting them ready for Varsity play. Athletes at this level are given the opportunity to gain valuable game experience, improve their skills, and build confidence as they work toward earning a spot on the Varsity team.
  • Skill Building and Growth: Coaches work on developing athletes’ fundamentals in all areas of the game, with an emphasis on building a solid foundation for success in high school baseball. There is a strong focus on improving batting, pitching, fielding, and base running techniques.
  • Teamwork and Mentorship: Junior Varsity athletes are encouraged to work as a team, supporting one another’s growth and helping each other develop the skills necessary to succeed. The Junior Varsity team also serves as a training ground for younger players, preparing them for the intensity of Varsity competition.
  • Games and Tournaments: Junior Varsity players compete in regular games and tournaments throughout the season, gaining valuable experience while being part of a competitive team.


Junior High Baseball (Grades 7th-8th)

The Junior High Baseball Program is designed to prepare athletes (grades 7th-8th) for high school baseball, introducing them to the fundamentals of the game while fostering a love for the sport.

  • Fundamental Skill Development: Junior High athletes focus on developing a strong foundation in the basic skills of baseball, including hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running. Coaches work with athletes to build solid mechanics and teach the fundamentals that will prepare them for the next level of play.
  • Introduction to Competition: Junior High players compete in games and tournaments, gaining valuable experience and building confidence in a competitive environment. This level provides athletes with their first taste of the game’s competitive nature, while still focusing on growth and learning.
  • Preparation for High School: The Junior High program is designed to prepare athletes for the challenges of high school baseball. Emphasis is placed on building physical conditioning, understanding game strategy, and developing a strong team mentality.
  • Character Building: In addition to physical development, coaches at the Junior High level work to instill important values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. Athletes are encouraged to grow in their character as much as their athletic abilities, setting the foundation for future success.


Season Information

High School (9th-12th)

Spring Season begins in February and ends in April

Junior High (7th-8th)

Spring Season begins in February and end in April.

Locations and Practices

Baseball practices on their own practice field at the Texas Wind fields located at 1100 East Lakeshore Drive. Baseball Home Games will be located at Riverbend Ballpark 1001 East Lakeshore Drive.

High School Age Requirements

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS AGE REQUIREMENTS (Grades 9-12): 

If an athlete is currently homeschooled then you need to follow these guidelines for the 2025-2026 season for High school sports: 

  • a student will be considered a High School student who is 14 years of age or older as of May 31s in the calendar year of participation. Examples:
  • a. A player cannot turn 19 years of age before May 31st of the calendar year participating
  • b. Player A turns 14 on May 30th  2025. Player A will be a High School player when the Fall 2025-2026 season sports begin.
  • c. Player B turns 14 on June 5th , 2025. Player B will be considered a middle school player when the Fall 2025-2026 season sports begin school year.
  • d. Player C, (a Senior) can not turn 19 years of age during his/her final year.


High School athletes have FOUR years of eligibility. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there tryouts?

We do not cut athletes from our baseball program once they are registered, however we will have placement tryouts to place them on a team.
