Volleyball

Texas Wind Volleyball offers a Christ-centered program for athletes in grades 4th through 12th, with opportunities for skill development, competitive play, and spiritual growth at every level.


High School Volleyball (9th-12th Grade)

The High School Volleyball program at Texas Wind (grades 9-12) provides a competitive, fast-paced environment for athletes looking to challenge themselves at the highest level.

  • Varsity: The Varsity team is for dedicated, experienced athletes who are ready to compete at the highest level. Varsity players will focus on advanced game strategies, team dynamics, and leadership, with the goal of competing for regional and state championships.
  • Junior Varsity (JV): The Junior Varsity team gives athletes the opportunity to develop their skills in a more competitive setting. Emphasis is placed on refining fundamentals and learning the strategies of team play, preparing athletes for the transition to Varsity-level play.


Junior High Volleyball (7th-8th Grade)

Our Junior High Volleyball program (grades 7-8) is designed for athletes who are ready to move beyond the basics and dive into more competitive play. The focus at this level is on improving technique, mastering the fundamentals, and developing a deeper understanding of game strategy. Junior high athletes will compete in a full season, helping them gain experience and confidence on the court. By the end of this program, athletes will be ready to transition to high school volleyball with solid fundamentals and growing leadership abilities.


4th-6th Grade Volleyball

Our 4th-6th Grade Volleyball program introduces young athletes to the sport in a supportive, engaging, and fun environment. At this level, the focus is on teaching the fundamental skills of volleyball while ensuring that athletes understand the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Players will learn the basic rules of the game and participate in friendly, local games that help them build confidence and grow their love for the sport.

Season Information

High School (9th-12th)

Fall Season begins the last week in July. Spring Training is in April/May.

Junior High (7th-8th)

Fall Season begins first week of August. Spring Training is in April.

4th-6th Grade League

Fall season begins in August with an eight game season of local games.

Location and Practices

Practices and Home Games are at our home gym at 1100 East Lake Shore Drive

High School (9th-12th): Plan to have practices and games 4-5 days a week. Practices are in the evenings Monday-Friday.

Junior High (7th-8th): Plan to have practices or games 3-4 days per week.

4th-6th Grade League: Plan to have 1-2 practices and/or games a week. Practice days vary per season and depend on coach availability.

Game Information

High School Volleyball (Varsity & JV)

V and JV teams play a regular HS season against Public and Private schools as well as other Home School programs. This includes tournaments. TAIAO Regionals/States (Varsity Only): Depending on the team’s performance throughout the regular season, the Varsity team has the chance to participate in regionals, competing for a state title.


Junior High Volleyball

Our Junior High Volleyball team (grades 7th-8th) plays a full junior high season. End-of-Year Junior High Tournament (TAIAO Regionals): Our highest-level volleyball team will conclude their season with the TAIAO Volleyball Tournament.


4th-6th Grade Volleyball

Our 4th-6th Grade Volleyball program consists of an 8-game season of local matches, where younger athletes can gain experience, develop their skills, and grow in confidence. The focus at this level is on learning the fundamentals of volleyball in a supportive and non-competitive environment.


Game Day at Texas Wind Volleyball

Game days at Texas Wind Volleyball are filled with energy, camaraderie, and competition. Whether it's the high-stakes win for our high-school team, the exciting end-of-year tournament for Junior High, or the fun local games for 4th-6th graders, each match is an opportunity for athletes to grow, learn, and achieve.

Age Requirements

Texas Wind is a member of TAIAO. TAIAO requirements for ages are as follows: 

JUNIOR HIGH SPORTS AGE REQUIREMENTS (Grades 6th-8th): 

Will reach their 10th birthday prior to May 31st in the calendar year of participation; and,

b. Will not have reached their 14th birthday prior to May 31st of the same year.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS AGE REQUIREMENTS (Grades 9-12): 

If an athlete is currently homeschooled then you need to follow these guidelines for the 2025-2026 season for High school sports: 

  • a student will be considered a High School student who is 14 years of age or older as of May 31s in the calendar year of participation. Examples:
  • a. A player cannot turn 19 years of age before May 31st of the calendar year participating
  • b. Player A turns 14 on May 30th  2025. Player A will be a High School player when the Fall 2025-2026 season sports begin.
  • c. Player B turns 14 on June 5th , 2025. Player B will be considered a middle school player when the Fall 2025-2026 season sports begin school year.
  • d. Player C, (a Senior) can not turn 19 years of age during his/her final year.


High School athletes have FOUR years of eligibility. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there try outs?

We do not cut athletes once they are registered in our programming, however we do hold placement tryouts to place players on a team.
